What To Expect After A Vampire Facial

Redness

I tell all my patients the same thing: expect to be red after the procedure. For every patient, the amount of time the redness will persist is different.   I usually tell my patients that they can expect to be red for 24-48 hours.  This is why I always recommend that they schedule a Vampire Facial on an uneventful week/weekend, rather than the week/weekend they have a wedding, three birthday parties, and a dinner reservation.

Dry Skin

We all hate it. I hate it. However, it’s inevitable after a Vampire Facial. The good news is that this is all part of the healing process.  We expect that after a Vampire Facial, we will cause damage to skin cells and speed up the process of cell turnover.  Dry skin is a direct result of this process. Because of this, I encourage my patients to DOUBLE DOWN on their moisturizers and apply at least 2-3 times per day. The dryness will usually subside in less than a week.

Tenderness

You know the feeling that your skin gets after you get a sunburn? It feels tight and slightly tender to the touch, maybe a little warm even.   I tell my patients to expect the same thing after their Vampire Facial. My numbing cream tends to last around 3-4 hours, but when that fully wears off, the sensation can be uncomfortable. PRP has a naturally inflammatory effect which is what we need to heal, but the result can be tender skin. I advise not to use ice because we want to continue the inflammation, but I allow my patients to wash their skin with a mild cleanser and encourage them to use cooler temperature water if needed.

Unfortunately, dryness, redness, and some tenderness will most likely occur after your Vampire Facial.  However, the glowy, radiant, plump skin you get after is DEFINITELY worth it.
