What is a Vampire Facial?

Before we dive too deep into a Vampire Facial, we first need to talk about microneedling.

Microneedling is a medical procedure that involves using a device, usually a needling pen of some sort, to create tiny holes in the skin. This needling to the skin helps to accelerate our skin’s natural healing process. The healing process will result in the creation of two very important proteins needed for skin health: collagen and elastin.

Don’t get me wrong, microneedling by itself can be extremely beneficial. However, when you incorporate Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), you drastically add to the list of benefits. PRP helps to further stimulate the production of collagen and elastin and aid in cell turnover. PRP is extremely helpful in making the skin look more plump and youthful, as well as diminishing the appearance of sun damage and pore size.

Now, let’s talk about the Vampire Facial procedure, shall we?

Every patient is completely numbed before their Vampire Facial with a topical anesthetic, usually a combination of Lidocaine, Tetracaine, and Benzocaine. After the anesthetic has been given time to take effect, the skin is cleansed to prepare for the procedure. Now it’s time for the good stuff. It is important to remember that every provider will have a different technique for how they do any procedure. In my Vampire Facials, I typically work by section (cheek, forehead, chin, nose, etc) and cover the section in PRP. Then, I use that PRP as a lubricant while needling to prevent dragging across the skin. After I have completed an area, I cover the skin again in PRP to get a “doubled” effect. Not only am I needling the PRP deep into the skin, but I’m also letting that PRP sink into the pinpoint hemorrhages I just created.

If your goal is to have flawless, glowy, youthful skin, then I HIGHLY recommend you check out a Vampire Facial.

Sincerely,
